If you've read the names of some of the strange instruments Paul played on some of his songs, you may be wondering, "What the hell is it??" Well now you can see just what each of these mysterious "instruments" looks like!
THE SNOOPY PLAYMATE - MERLIN, THE ELECTRONIC WIZARD - THE MAJOR MORGAN ORGAN - THE MAGICAL MUSICAL THING - THE SOUND GIZMO - THE ARMONICA- THE MUSIC GIZMO
 
THE SNOOPY PLAYMATE™
The Snoopy Playmate™, manufactured by Hasbro in 1980, was played by Paul on "The Snoopy Playmate Theme Song" from MY LAST TAPE. The song was also performed live at a concert in 1990, and performed live on radio station WRCT on Christmas eve 1989.
MERLIN, THE ELECTRONIC WIZARD™
  
Merlin, the Electronic Wizard™, manufactured by Parker Brothers in 1978, was used on two songs: "Yourself" (from NOW I BLOW MY ABC'S) and "High School Cooker's Club Theme" (from DOES ANYONE WANT THIS?).
THE MAJOR MORGAN ORGAN™
The Major Morgan Organ™, manufactured by Playskool, was played by Marcy McKenney on the song "Brain Cell Dream Song" (on MY LAST TAPE).
THE MAGICAL MUSICAL THING™
The Magical Musical Thing™, manufactured by Mattel in 1978, was played by Paul on the song "Dueling Magical Musical Things" (on the SUCKING CHEST WOUND 7"). Manny Theiner also played one on the song.
THE SOUND GIZMO™
The Sound Gizmo™, manufactured by FunDimensions, was played by Paul on the song "Dueling Magical Musical Things" (on the SUCKING CHEST WOUND 7"). It was also used during the only live performance of the song in Oct 1990.
THE ARMONICA

The Armonica, manufactured in Italy by Antonelli, was played on "Whalin' the Shit out of Guys" (on LO FIDELITY, HI ANXIETY). Producer Matt Marcus said that it was "Like a harmonica, but without the harm".

THE MUSIC GIZMO™
The Music Gizmo™ (not to be confused with The Sound Gizmo - see above), manufactured by Yes! in 1997, provided the background rhythm loop in "I Wasted My Masterball on Freakin' Goldeen" (on "Your Favorite Gum"). Paul also played one of the keyboard parts in the song on this instrument.
